Know the oils

Know the oils that shape every bite.

Three botanicals. Three sensory languages. Each one is paired with chocolate not to be loud, but to be noticed.

Variant · Peppermint

Peppermint

Cool · Clean · Refreshing

A breath of cool, layered into deep cocoa.

Botanical name
Mentha × piperita
Origin
Uttar Pradesh, India

Peppermint oil arrives quietly. The first bite is dark chocolate. A moment later a fresh, cooling note opens at the back of the palate. It rests there, then fades. We use it sparingly — enough to be noticed, never enough to take over.

Pairing notes

  • Pair with a small cup of black coffee. The peppermint trails the bitterness.
  • Serve at room temperature. Cold mutes the oil; warm rooms unfold it.
  • Eat one square slowly. The note shifts twice in a single bite.

Sourcing

Steam-distilled from Mentha × piperita leaves grown in Uttar Pradesh. Food-grade certified, no carriers, no additives.

Tasting ritual

Let the square soften on your tongue. Do not chew. Notice the chocolate first; the peppermint will arrive on its own.

Variant · Sweet

Sweet Orange

Warm · Vibrant · Sunny

Cold-pressed peel, distilled into a quiet brightness.

Botanical name
Citrus sinensis
Origin
Nagpur, India

Sweet orange brings a citrus edge that lifts the chocolate without sweetening it. Cold-pressed from the peel — not the juice — so the flavor stays oily and round, never sharp.

Pairing notes

  • Pair with a glass of cold milk. The fat carries the citrus longer.
  • Try with toasted almond. The roasted nut deepens the orange.
  • Eat after a meal. Sweet orange resets the palate without being dessert-loud.

Sourcing

Cold-pressed from Nagpur oranges. The skins are washed, dried, and pressed within 48 hours of harvest.

Tasting ritual

Smell first. Hold the square close to your nose for a beat. The aroma will tell you what is coming.

Variant · Lemongrass

Lemongrass

Fresh · Botanical · Crisp

Lemongrass arrives slowly, then lingers.

Botanical name
Cymbopogon citratus
Origin
Kerala, India

Lemongrass is the surprise note in the trio. Not citrus, not herbal — somewhere between. It opens late in the bite, with a green freshness that stays on the breath after the chocolate is gone.

Pairing notes

  • Pair with a light black tea. Darjeeling first flush works beautifully.
  • Try with cashew. The nut's soft sweetness gives the lemongrass room.
  • Best in the afternoon. Lemongrass is a daylight flavor.

Sourcing

Steam-distilled from fresh Cymbopogon citratus stalks grown in Kerala. We use the second distillation cut for a rounder profile.

Tasting ritual

Take a small sip of water first. Lemongrass blooms on a clean palate.

Common questions

Before your first bite.

Are the essential oils edible?

Yes. Every oil we use is food-grade certified, intended for human consumption, and used in tested ratios. We never use diffuser-grade oils.

Do the oils contain caffeine?

No. Essential oils are aromatic compounds distilled from the plant — they don't carry caffeine or stimulants of any kind.

Are these chocolates vegan?

Our dark chocolate range is vegan. White chocolate variants contain dairy. Every product page lists the base and allergens clearly.

How are the oils sourced?

All three oils are sourced from Indian growers. Peppermint from Uttar Pradesh, sweet orange from Nagpur, lemongrass from Kerala. We work with small-batch distillers — each lot is traceable.

Best way to taste?

Slowly. Let a piece soften on your tongue without chewing for around twenty seconds. The chocolate arrives first; the oil unfolds after.
